The Problem
Gluttony runs some of Adelaide's most popular food and cultural events. Behind the scenes that means a busy mix of staff, contractors, artists, suppliers and seasonal workers, all relying on cloud tools to get the job done.
Most of the year's revenue is earned in a short festival window. An outage or data incident during that time can't be fixed later, because the trading days are gone. The team knew cyber risk mattered but didn't have an independent view of where they actually stood.
The Challenge
Gluttony needed answers without having to become IT experts:
- Are we as protected as we think we are?
- How well is information about our people and partners being looked after?
- Could we keep trading if something went wrong mid-festival?
- What should we fix first, and what can we realistically afford?
They also needed advice from someone with no stake in the answer. That meant nobody selling them products, and nobody reviewing their own work.
The Resolution
Blinx ran a Cyber Posture Assessment that combined two views of the business:
- What Gluttony told us. We held discovery sessions on business priorities, critical systems and what a bad day would really cost.
- What the evidence showed. We independently reviewed Microsoft 365, identity and access, data protection, devices and business resilience, and benchmarked the results against SMB1001.
Where the two views didn't match, we said so plainly. Every finding was then ranked by what matters most to keeping Gluttony trading, not by a generic checklist. We explained all of it in plain English.
The Outcome
Following the assessment, Gluttony Food & Wine Festival gained a clearer understanding of its cyber security posture and a practical roadmap for future improvement.
Key outcomes included:
- An independent assessment of current cyber security maturity.
- Clear visibility of cyber security risks and business priorities.
- Improved understanding of information governance and data management opportunities.
- Greater confidence in access management and governance decision-making.
- Practical recommendations aligned to operational realities.
- A prioritised roadmap for future cyber security improvements.
- A clear pathway towards ongoing cyber maturity and SMB1001 alignment.
With major events including Lucky Dumpling Market and next year's Adelaide Fringe fast approaching, the assessment provided clarity on where to focus effort and investment to achieve the greatest reduction in business risk.
Gluttony now has a practical framework for ongoing improvement, enabling the organisation to strengthen its security posture over time while remaining focused on delivering exceptional event experiences.
In Their Words
"Blinx were amazing. They came in and explained everything so even I could understand it, and I'm not great at IT things.
As a business owner, it's so important to protect yourself against the threats that exist and will only get bigger.
IT provides so many opportunities but with that comes risk, and reducing your risk reduces your stress. I've never met a business owner that didn't want that.
Blinx gave us very clear ideas on how we could move forward and make our business more secure."
